Northwest Portland Tour #1

Nob Hill - Alphabet District

This tour begins at NW 22nd and Davis Street and heads west to
NW 23rd and West Burnside Street. It follows NW 23rd Avenue
north to Lovejoy Street where it turns right and goes to NW 22nd
Avenue. It then proceeds south on NW 22nd to its original
starting point at NW Davis Street.

Featured Tour Locations

The A.H. Johnson Mansion was located at NW 22nd
Place and West Burnside Street in the late 1800s.
Johnson's cattle roamed his ranch in NW Portland.

The famous Henry Thiele Restaurant occupied the 23rd
Avenue entrance to NW Portland for 60 years.

The tiny Burkhardt House stood near NW 23rd and
Glisan Street for over 125 years. 

Milt Olshen proudly stands behind his soda fountain
at the Irving Street Pharmacy in the 1950s.

The Esquire Theater was once a popular entertainment
center on NW 23rd Avenue. It had been known as
the Nob Hill Theater until 1938.
